Betfair Exchange tennis retirement and disqualification rules

One set completed and match odds stand - on ANY match, with no carve-out for ITF or exhibition.

Retirement and disqualification are written into the same sentence here, so the cause makes no difference to how you are paid.

The rule, in their words

“if less than one set has been completed at the time of the retirement or disqualification then all bets relating to that individual match will be void.”

Read and verified on Betfair Exchange’s own published rules, 2026-10-05. Operators change these without notice, so we re-read them each time this page is updated.

Other markets

Game and set markets void unless unconditionally determined. A change to the number of games or sets required voids everything not already determined.

Worth knowing

Differs from Betfair's own sportsbook. On an ITF retirement after two sets the Exchange pays and the Sportsbook voids.

Common questions

Does the Betfair Exchange void a tennis retirement?

Only if less than one set has been completed. After a full set, match odds stand - on any match, Tour, Challenger, ITF or exhibition alike.

Is Betfair Exchange or Betfair Sportsbook better on lower-tier tennis?

The Exchange, for settlement certainty. It applies one rule everywhere, while the Sportsbook voids ITF and UTR retirements outright no matter how much was played.
